Development

Items were considered for inclusion in the StimQ based on reviewing common developmental tests, and determining the learning materials and parental behaviors necessary to support the acquisition of early cognitive skills.

Developmental pediatricians, developmental psychologists and specialists in early childhood education reviewed all items.

Final inclusion of items was based on ability to discriminate overall level of cognitive stimulation, correlation with overall scale, and content validity.

Subscale development was based on exploratory factor analysis.
