Pediatric hospitalists work with referring pediatricians and the team of hospital-based physicians to manage the care of children on the pediatric inpatient unit. The pediatric hospitalist is a physician who coordinates and oversees the care of the child during hospitalization. The physicians also manage the discharge and return of the patient to his or her primary pediatrician, and communicate closely with the patient’s primary physician or surgeon.
The hospitalist physicians also follow well newborns in the nursery for families whose pediatricians are not on staff at NYU Langone Medical Center.
For Pediatric Hospitalists: The Clinical Guidelines are now housed in the new Inside NYU Langone employee portal. If you are accessing the guidelines from outside of the medical center, please visit http://central.nyumc.org/Pages/Index.aspx which will redirect you to log in via VPN.
