The Elective in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at the New York University School of Medicine is designed to provide a broad clinical experience for pediatric house officers and medical students.
During their one-month rotation in the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Division residents and students work very closely with the faculty, staff and post-doctoral fellows.
While the rotation is based in the ambulatory clinics, residents/medical students typically perform all inpatient consultations under the supervision of fellows and faculty. They may often assist in the management of selected inpatients.
Special research electives can also be arranged under the supervision of individual faculty members. Such electives, whether in clinical or basic research, are met through the resources of the entire School of Medicine as well as the Division.
